  • Treasurer’s Report

    • Currently $807.40 in the account

  • Membership Report

    • No new members

    • Current members need to make sure to pay dues

  • Launch Report

    • Two successful qualifying TARC launches for one team. Team had scores of 4 and 17.

  • NAR Grant

    • The Club received the NAR Grant to help support the Apollo Celebrations this summer

New Business:

  • TARC Past/Present/Future

    • Numerous TARC launches this year but only two qualifying launches

    • How to encourage teams on getting qualified prior to March

  • Upcoming Launches

    • March 24 at Grant Town

    • Tentative March 31 at Grant Town

      • Chris and Ed will be RSOs

    • April 6 at WVU Ag. Farm

      • Ricky is RSO

    • April 7 at Grant Town

  • Additional Road Signs

    • Motion was made to order 6 additional road signs from Vista Print for $123.99

    • Motion passed unanimously. Signs are on order

  • Summer Launch Competition Ideas

    • Drag Races on a A, B, or C

    • Larger Summer TARC-esk Competition

    • Advanced rocket (S4-esk)

    • January 27
      • New launch and rail system worked perfectly
    • February 10
      • Fairly successful launch
      • Did loose a two rockets in the trees
      • Had 10 teams in attendance

New Business:

  • Summer Camp
    • What: What’s after TARC? Taking it to the next level better Data Collection and Explore Active Control System
    • When: Tentative July 22-26 with a backup week of July 29-August 2
    • Budget: Mark and Todd will write the proposal
  • Apollo Moon Landing Celebration
    • Proposal is in addition to the July 20 celebration to talk about the Apollo celebration on Saturday, July 13 at the International Robotics Invitational in Fairmont
    • WVRocketry Association will be a vendor
    • Club has willing volunteers to run
    • Propose to have July 20 launch at the Grant Town site
    • Invite media, rescue squad, volunteer, etc.
    • Need to coordinate the celebration outreach as well as porty potty rental

    • Launch was a great success, all but one rocket recovered
    • Helicopter Recovery was fun to watch

    • Fed up with commercial ignition systems
    • At the last launch several fell apart
    • Ricky discussed the launchers he’s made
    • Many club members talked about solutions they’ve come up
    • Club voted for Todd to spend up to $35 on a new launch system for the club
  • Motion was made for the club to give the Grant Town site a gift card
    • $50 was approved to a suitable venue, potentially add in a hat or some other memento
    • Chris is going to contact the owner’s security to see what he would like

Meeting Minutes - August 13, 2018

Meeting called to order at 7:05pm on August 13, 2018

Old Business:

  • Sounding Rockets for All Students
    • Had a though debriefing from one of the teams on how the camp went
    • All had a good time
    • Already working on improvements including maybe a rolling camp to better incorporate those that have never built a rocket and those that are more interested in the payload
  • Treasurer’s Report
    • Currently $1265.88 in the account between member dues and motor order repayments
  • Club motor order
    • Will be placing the order on Aug. 13 after the meeting
    • The online repayment system seems to be working well

New Business:

    • Helicopter Recovery Competition
      • August 26, 2-5pm (Sunday afternoon)

    • Highest on a Cricuit Tube (same body tube)

    • Suggestion that for most of TARC season to move launches to Sundays in order to deconflict with other activities
  • Junior HPR Program
    • The Junior HPR Participation Program is offered to Junior and Leader members ages 14 – 17 in order that they may fly rockets using H and I class motors. The program follows the same basic procedure used for the HPR certification for Senior NAR members. However, due to legal restrictions pertaining to the purchase and possession of high power rocket motors, ejection charges, and related items, there are additional requirements.
